Professional Development

ECELS-Healthy Child Care PA offers Self-Learning Modules, Live & Recorded Webinars and Workshops. In addition, in collaboration with Northampton Community College, ECELS offers a 3 credit college course for early educators to learn how to be Child Care Health Advocates. All offerings are listed on this website. ECELS awards state-authorized professional development credit for successful completion of professional development activities.

ECELS Webinars & Self-Learning Modules (SLMs)

  • What is the difference between a SLM and a Webinar?

    • SLM (Self-Learning Module): A self-paced, online learning activity you can complete anytime. Includes readings, videos, and quizzes.

    • Webinar: A live or recorded online session with an instructor or presenter, often including interactive elements like Q&A or discussion.

  • Who are these SLMs and webinars for?

    • ECELS professional development resources are designed for early care and education professionals, including teachers, directors, administrators, and support staff, and are suitable for anyone working to enhance health and safety in ECE programs.

  • Can I take these for free?

    • Yes! SLMs and webinars are available for free to improve knowledge and skills.

  • How do I earn Professional Development (PD) credit?

    • Step 1: Complete the SLM or webinar.

    • Step 2: Submit your completed assessment to ECELS for review.

    • Step 3: Pay the $15 per-person/per-topic fee online via FlipCause with a debit or credit card, or by check/money order payable to PA AAP, see each course for details and instructions.

    • Step 4: Once approved, PD credit is posted directly to your PD Registry profile. There is no physical or digital certificate.

  • Can I review SLMs or webinars multiple times?

    • Yes! You can revisit materials as often as you like, but PD credit is awarded only once per topic.

  • What if I have technical issues?

    • Make sure your browser is up to date and cookies are enabled.
