This self-learning module course is designed in three parts to provide child care providers in Pennsylvania with essential knowledge on emergency preparedness and response, building on the new (Jan. 2025) required health and safety training provided by Better Kid Care. PART 1 Section 1: Emergency Preparedness Best Practices Section 2: Evacuation Emergencies Section 3: Public Health and Disease Outbreaks PART 2 Section 4: Shelter-In-Place Emergencies Section 5: Severe Weather Section 6: Power Outage and Utility Disruption PART 3 Section 7: Effective Drills Section 8: Addressing Violence in the ECE Program Section 9: Mental Health Resources This full course equips Pennsylvania child care providers with the knowledge and tools to prepare for and handle emergencies confidently, ensuring the protection of children's physical well-being and mental health. The three separate parts are $15 and worth 2 hours of Professional Development Credit upon successful completion, 6 hours maximum. PD Credit will be awarded in the PD Registry. Physical Certificates will not be handed out.  Note: Each part of this three-part course stands on its own - no prerequisites required! Feel free to jump into whichever part interests you most. For instance, if effective ECE program drills and mental health are your focus, Part 3 is a great place to start.
